MANAGEMENT OF BIOSAFETY CABINET DURING A PANDEMIC OUTBREAKS

The risks posed by microbes are increasing globally. Some of these risks are due to genetic mutations, drug abuse, and antimicrobial resistance. These risks have mounted to the emerging of dangerous pathogens that are causing disease outbreaks. These outbreaks affect the immediate communities. It is expedient that young Laboratory Professionals must always keep to protocols that ensure good and safe laboratory practices with such organisms. The September Edition of Inside the Laboratory is to draw the attention of rising Researchers, young Laboratory Scientists and many health systems to take a deep look at their role in halting such disasters through management of safety cabinets .

Issues to be address include;

1. Personal Protection from harmful agents within the cabinet.

2. Environmental Protection from contaminants contained within the cabinet.

3. Biosafety surveillance in a post-pandemic Health District.

The global fight against one of the earthquaking pandemics that unravelled the understanding of science has lengthen for years. This is the fight against HIV. While targeting those infected and putting in control measures to safeguard those who are uninfected, the call to prevent the spread of this infection in the future should be and is the area of focus with most health organizations.

One of these measures is early screening of newborns for viral antigens which if found early and directed for immediate care will stop the spread and colonisation of the child. This is done through Early infants Diagnosis of HIV, the EID/HIV.
The Department of Science and Education of IFBLSA is inviting us to this outstanding live meeting of its monthly program of INSIDE THE LABORATORY, to address the challenges faced in creating demands for this test. The speaker Mr Tumenta Ernest, will also highlight cutting edge solutions for rural communities health facilities to adopt to increase the demand.
Mr Tumenta is the CEO of Pan-Africa Health Initiative Pan-AFHI who had work at the Elisabeth Glacier foundation coordinating it's program in Cameroon.
